Oreos and Social Media – That is the question

Chris Brogan, a favorite blogger of mine, asked us a question on Twitter -

…what it would do if Oreo came knocking looking for a social media project.

It’s a great question and Chris received more than a few answers. Some of my favorites are:

  • bradatpharma – Oreo avatars. I’d have an opportunity for people to offer new flavours, I’d have a feedback loop for taste testers… hmmm…
  • mecarluen – How bout a make-your-own Oreo cartoon using GoAnimate, ey? http//goanimate.com/go/watch
  • LeisaWatkins – – An art contest – art created out of Oreo Cookies. Everyone could vote for their favorite work of art.
The Caffeinated Blog even had a response.  But the question is for me, what would I suggest.  Well here’s a few ideas.
  • Create a place for folks to share their best Oreo sharing moments – via stories, pictures, videos
  • Create a Twitter presence – use it to take feedback, stories, and share fun links
  • Create a ‘fun place’ where folks can download Oreo related goodies – include celebrity guest pictures, videos, and music
There are a ton of great ways a brand like Oreos could make a go of it in social media. As a matter of fact, they’ve already got a cool Oreos website.
Thanks Chris for sparking us into action with such a cool question.

You mean Oreos talk? I'm usually ripping them apart to quick. Ha.

Great reply. Thanks for stopping by.

Thanks Kari. Really enjoyed your post as well. It was a great exercise. Made me think.

If the Oreo came knocking, looking for a media project, I would probably eat it before it could ask, and then I'd blog about how bad for you Oreos are.

Great ideas, Todd! Now I wonder if Oreo is going to come knocking after our impromptu brainstorming session...

That was an awesome exercise from Chris, wasn't it?
