Thankful

The Girls

These ladies one of the best parts of my life.  They are just part of what I’m thankful for.

I’m very blessed and I know it.  Regrettably I don’t tell folks that enough. I complain about circumstances way too often.  To help that, here’s a few of the things I’m thankful for.

  • my salvation – ask me some time
  • my wife – my biggest blessing on earth
  • my granddaughters – shown above
  • their mother/my daughter-in-law – she rocks and does a great job for the girls
  • my sons – through thick and thin
  • my worldly success – in spite of myself
  • my online success – again, in spite of myself
  • all the wonderful people I’ve met online and off this year – you all rock!
  • the gift of a touch of genius/madness – the blessing I struggle the most with
This year has been one of the most interesting of my life.  That was my only New Year’s resolution, to have a most interesting year.  Each of you in my life has contributed to that in some way. Give yourself a hug or pat on the back as you feel appropriate.
I’m not sure what I could ask for that I need but don’t have.  Oh, there’ll be things under the tree for Christmas, but this year I’ll be happy just to have some peace of mind.  For next year I’m asking for direction.
Again, I’m thankful for all of these blessings and more, and for even being able to look forward to a ‘next year’.  What are you thankful for this year?  Can you be thankful for just knowing you have a future to hope against? I am.
Cheers folks. May the Lord give you what you need and more.

  • I addressed that whole "complain" thing on my blog today, too. I have no Christmas list, and have many thanks. MANY. I haven't made a list, but they are there.
  • Wonderful list and yes a very good year indeed. We all need to be thankful like this, not just in November either. Let's strive to show our appreciation more often throughout the year. You do a great job of that online, that's for sure, brother!
I think 2009 will be an even more amazing year with all the changes going on.

  • You are so right Pai. There is never a wrong time to be thankful.
  • Todd, you are a delight. I am grateful to have you in my life.
  • You as well Linda. Thank you. :)
  • Thanks for sharing your list. And since you asked, here's mine:

    1. My husband - He's been the most supportive and loving person in my life. I don't know what I did to deserve him, but I'm grateful for whatever brought us together.
    2. My three dogs - I'm reminded daily to stop and enjoy the simple pleasures of life thanks to the canine crew. They don't need or demand much from me, but they give so much freely and completely. I've learned much from their companionship.
    3. People who have taught me lessons - Some of the lessons have been hard and I don't claim to like all these people (although there are a few that I love, trust, and value dearly), but I'm grateful to them and for the things they've taught me. I'm a better person because of all of them.
    4. New opportunities - Right now I'm starting a new job and moving back to my home state. While it's scary and stressful, it's also exciting and a chance to try new things.
    5. My family - This also includes in-laws, my "real" family, and those close friends who are important parts of my life. Whenever I need them, they also seem to be there.

There is so much more that I'm thankful for. You get the general idea though, I'm sure.
  • Jill,
thank you and thanks for sharing your list with us. I forgot to mention my dog; I enjoy his company as well.

Best of luck with the new job.
