I’m twitter famous, now what?

So I’m one of the most prolific twitter peeps out there and definitely the most prolific in my region but so what.

What do I do with that? Also, though I’m prolific am I adding a lot of value. Am I of any value to my local community where surprisingly I have relatively fewer followers.

So I’m sort of asking how to add more value in general but also the best way to help myself locally

Please send help.

  • You are very helpful as you share your knowledge when we have questions, you also use your "popularity" to relay info. I don't think there's much more to ask for!
  • Thanks Andrew. I do what I can. :)
  • Do you use http://www.twitterlocal.net/ ? I found a bunch of philadelphians that way, started following, and started conversing. After that, we had meet ups (KEY for local Twittering). I think people on Twitter relate me to Philadelphia more than they do any other category now, and I am more interested in working locally than globally, too.
  • Definitely have to get that site a try again.
I've gotten started working locally. What I'm seeing is more a problem of reception. Folks local have different ideas than me for sure. :)
  • Tojosan,

Twitterlocal.net is definitely a good place to start, as you know, to find local peeps. But finding common interests is a bit harder. I suppose we could use a cross between Twittersearch and Twitterlocal, maybe only returning results based on location AND keywords. Maybe Twitrel can be manipulated to do this?

  • Purplecar,

Oh yeah, Twitrel as in twitter relations? I'm seeing a vision in my head of a graphically driven tool to locate good folks to connect with on social networks. One dimensional lists are overrated.

    Thanks for the ideas.
  • Why not put together a Tweetup with those followers who are local? it would be a great way to solidify the connection you have within your immediate community and who knows, some interesting things might come of it all :-)
  • Yep. Speaking of tweetups, having one next Friday. Never have enough of these for me.

One thing I did recently was help get a BarCamp together. Great fun. Planning another one.

I'm open to more ideas for building local community. Thanks.
