President Barack Obama Sets New Media Bar

I’m happy about this video. It’s not about the politics for me though, it’s about the video. Today the Presidential Office has broken new ground in communicating to our children, and to the nation as a whole.

Television is no longer king. It’s been replaced by high quality video, video you can embed, share, rewind, mix and more. Video no longer controlled by the media, the fourth estate.

This speech will not just reach the millions that watched it live, but the many more millions that will watch it online. Imagine how many beyond those in generations to come that will be watching it, and in how many languages.

Bonus? The Whitehouse is the one sharing it out. Media embedding is even encouraged on the Media Resources site.

This is a trend I hope not only continues but grows to become commonplace in all levels of politics. The President has set the bar; who will rise to it?

I agree with you - this is a wonderful trend. I mentioned in my video http://robynsonlineworld.blogspot.com/2009/09/v... (about the speech) that one of the things my son has really enjoyed about President Obama is that he talks about tech, uses tech, etc. and he feels that connection. Regardless of the party, I think it is a great way to encourage the kids to be involved with the system.
