2009 Brag Basket

Z and the nose pose

SMILE

Brag and boast time.  Take a few minutes out to share the best of your 2009.

In the comments brag on yourself or someone else you know. Tell us who, what, and how it made you feel.  Be sure to include links to your blog post or pics or both if you have them.

I’d like to share a couple of my own.

1) My wife reached a weight loss goal of 100 lbs.

2) My brother, battling ALS, is a continuous source of inspiration to me.

3) My daughter-in-law who continued raising three daughters with our son being deployed part of that time and working to the bone a good part of the rest.

4) My friend Karen Goodman who embraced social networking and social media with remarkable gusto and made it a successful and integrated part of her business.

5) A contractor, James, who completed a run of bathroom upgrades that took us multiple visits, many hours, and a bit of patience. He worked out so well I intend to recommend him to everyone.

How about you and your family and friends? Share something great with us!

  • Great post!

    1. I'm proud of my son. I could name lots of different reasons why - but what it comes down to is that I am just proud of the wonderful young man that he is.

    2. I'm happy that Hubby & I are continuing to work on our marriage and make it better and better. I love him so much.

    3. Way to go to Mom for making her 10 year cancer free mark in December!

    4. Yay me for working so hard on my blog and enjoying it so much!
  • Great Brag!
You've got a wonderful family all the way around. Your son is so adult at times. Ha.
Thanks for having me into your house.
  • Sometimes he does seem that way - I think it's because he is an only child. Of course, Hubby is an only child and he always is childlike LOL!
  • Thank you for the invitation to brag a bit about people/events in 2009:

    1. I'm so proud of husband's much deserved, on going, rise in his profession as a landscape painter.

    2. I would like to brag about having good friends. The people in my life are truly stand-up people. They are gifted souls and gifts in my life and I'm lucky to know them.

    3. I'm going to brag that I didn't allow health issues pin me to the mat.

    4. I'm proud of ProNagger. I love that it's my creative baby and I get to develop it with the ethics and values that alignment with my true nature. I LOVE when something I say or write clicks with someone and it nudges them forward on their desired path. I'm a great Nag! :-)

    5. Brag about my father, who at 82 is still a volunteer firefighter (not jumping into the fires anymore thank goodness), business owner and actively involved in his community.

    6. Brag about my old hound dog, who must be older than my father if you count in dog years. He's still dominating the yard and eager to take a walk! Go Sammy. I hope I can have this same brag next year but if I can't I'll love every day we get together.
  • Dang fine brag list!
Glad to see folks bragging on their spouses and family. Even happier to see folks appreciate themselves.
    You rock mam!
  • Wow. I'm honored to make your short list and to be included with such other inspirational people.

My list...off the top of my head:
    1) My mom, Anita Sievers. I was so fortunate to be born into a family that offers unconditional love and support. My mom continues to drop everything the moment I need something, she has taken over my bookkeeping and provides some administrative support for my business. I couldn't do it without her.

    2) My new office - the people, training and culture have re-energized me and have gotten me excited about the future.

    3) My friend Pamela - she has shown me that we can be strong enough to handle major life curve balls when we need to.
    4) Cynthia LaLuna - my fabulous website designer who gave http://www.ArchCityHomes.com a wonderful makeover.

5)Todd Jordan - I met Todd just barely over 1 year ago at the first St. Louis Bar Camp (12/08). He took me under his wing, introduced me to everything social media, and became one of my biggest advocates. I couldn't have done all this without you.

  • Arch City Homes is so much more than a blog Karen. It's an extension of your spirit. I appreciate being part of what's driven you this year. Collaborating with you has been a rare pleasure. Can't wait to continue our friendship and partnership in the years to come.
  • Hey Todd, way to go...you have much to be proud of this year.

As for me, and you had a lot to do with this, I started The St. Louis Social Media & Tech Report blog in June. You were inspirational at many points along the way for me. The way time blazes past and busy lives make days and weeks a blur, I am sure I forgot to mention to you how much I appreciate your friendship and guidance.

At any rate, the blog ended the year with a bang, getting it's best traffic numbers ever. And your advice continues to roll around in my head as I fine tune the focus of the blog.

Thanks, and again, congratulations on you and Nanna J's accomplishments.
  • St. Louis Social Media & Tech Report is a solid achievement. I'm honored to be recognized for helping it along.

Greg, you've been a friend and cohort this year and it's been a blessing. Thank you.
  • All I need to say is Angie Farnworth. Best mother. Best wife. And best friend. I would not be a third of the man without her.

And this has been true year in and year out for over 11 years.
  • Wives Rock! Thank you Demian for sharing about yours. Congratulations on 11 years.
  • Wow! Good things!
    1. With the help of my husband I lost 100 lbs!
    2. I will also say that with God and the other members at Weight Watchers, I did it!
    3. Making a change in jobs.
    4. I too, very thankful for my daughter in law.
    5. For oldest son serving in the Army, helping keep us safe.
    6. Though a personal lost, I'm glad my mommy is no longer in pain. Very happy knowing she is with Jesus!
    7. I too for the inspiration of my BIL, who is dealing and coping with ALS. That he is at peace with God.
    8. That the love of my life faced some serious issues of his own and didn't give up! I love you Todd Randall Jordan!!!!
