About the Sookie Stackhouse Series

Charlaine Harris brought new life to the vampire mythos with her Sookie Stackhouse series. Sookie is a Southern girl with a handicap; she can read minds. It just gets more interesting from that premise, with Sookie meeting and falling in love with a vampire.

Charlaine entertains us with ever more complex plots. There’s goth of course, along with sex, humor, and fairy creatures of all types.

Buy the latest in the series, Dead and Gone (Sookie Stackhouse, Book 9) Holiday Book Giveaway Sookie Stackhouse Novels.

Favorite vampire series though? I really do like the Twilight books but my FAVE is Nice Girl's Don't Have Fangs and the rest of the series. SO GREAT

  • ferriz

i havent read them but i am an avid true blood fan. Far as books go i would have to go with twilight, since i have read them. i am pretty sure the sookie stackhouse series will blow that out of the water though!

My favorite vampire series is Anne Rice's series of books about vampires.

  • http://www.ladytinksblog.blogspot.com/ Ladytink_534

Oh easy, it's Eric. He's easily one of my favorite fictional vampires of all time.

  • theamira

I haven't read these yet but my favorite thing is that my teen daughter loves the series and anything that keeps a 16-year-old home and reading is a winner in my opinion.

  • http://twitter.com/AustinHush Austin

My favorite thing about the Sookie Stackhouse novels is that there not like any other vampire novel really. You always see these vampire stories that these girls have to keep secrets from everyone they know and love so that they can be with this vampire. In the Sookie Stackhouse novels vampires are out in the open so there is no reason to be worried if your vampire gets discovered. Another thing I love about the Sookie Stackhouse Novels. They have trueblood, which satisfy there nutritional needs and so forth. In other vampire books the, the vampire is trying everything he/she can so they don't rip the throat out of there lover. And this is why I love the Sookie Stackhouse novels.

  • http://twitter.com/EricsTXGal Kim

I think this is cool what you're doing. I don't want to enter the contest, as I have my own full set; but I did want to comment on what good condition these books are in. Mine are all dog-eared in several places…mostly where Eric appears, or Sookie made me LOL, and of course Pam's witty comments make me giggle.
    Merrry Christmas!

  • kathydunaway

I haven't read any books in the series but LOVE the True Blood series on t.v.I would love to win the books. Thanks for the giveaway:)

  • http://toddrjordan.com/thebroadbrush tojosan

    Canis,

Thanks for dropping by and getting in on the giveaway.

Anne Rice was my introduction to vampire novels.

  • http://toddrjordan.com/thebroadbrush tojosan

    furygirl,

These are some of the more interesting vampire stories I've read in years. Of course I got hooked on such stories with Anne Rice's vampire novels.

Find Interview with a Vampire in paperback somewhere. Great read.

  • http://toddrjordan.com/thebroadbrush tojosan

Thanks Jennifer for stopping by. I'm going go have to watch True Blood on DVD some time.

  • http://toddrjordan.com/thebroadbrush tojosan

Welcome Aurora. Thanks for entering and retweeting.

  • http://toddrjordan.com/thebroadbrush tojosan

Yes. Sex is a recurring theme in just about all vampire novels. Even the ones totally geared for teens.

  • http://toddrjordan.com/thebroadbrush tojosan

Thanks for stopping by and registering.
Never heard of Nice Girl's Don't Have Fangs but Twilight is huge among my friends.

  • http://toddrjordan.com/thebroadbrush tojosan

    Ferriz,

I'm sure you'll love Sookie Stackhouse. She's not your typical female lead in a vampire series.

  • http://toddrjordan.com/thebroadbrush tojosan

    Eric is really? Not Lestat?

  • http://toddrjordan.com/thebroadbrush tojosan

Oh yeah, love me some Anne Rice. Have you read her other books?

  • http://toddrjordan.com/thebroadbrush tojosan

Amen to teens reading. Would love if either of my boys had done more. :)

  • http://toddrjordan.com/thebroadbrush tojosan

Thanks for that great post Austin. Some of the same reasons I enjoy the series. Having vampires be 'out' is a different take entirely. Funny how Sookie has to keep other's secrets out of her head.

  • http://toddrjordan.com/thebroadbrush tojosan

Good condition books are hard to come by at times.
I'm the only one reading them in my house so it makes it easier. Also I don't reread books right away. Often have a huge stack waiting to be read.

  • http://toddrjordan.com/thebroadbrush tojosan

True Blood is based on Sookie Stackhouse books but there isn't a direct translation. I believe you'd enjoy the books better though.

  • Stacy

I haven't read the Sookie books but I want to really bad. Right now I'm reading the second book in the Vampire Academy series and I really like it so far! I think I like it so much because it's so different from all the other vampire books.

  • PatZ

i like the fact that the vampires live and love with the humans and they are not all scary beings.

  • Alicia

My paperback copy of “Interview With A Vampire” is worn out cuz I've read it so many times.

  • Lisette

Erick. Need I say more? I haven't finished the series (only till book 2) because I'm so dang broke and my library NEVER has them. *crosses fingers*

Thanks so much for your generosity and the opportunity!

  • Lisette

I subscribed via feed burner. And I meant Eric not Erick. I've known too many Ericks in my life I keep misspelling Eric's name! :) Or maybe I'm misspelling it know…

  • chris v

anita blake is very good also scooter7018@aol.com

I haven't read any of the Sookie novels, but I am a huge fan of True Blood. Over the summer I managed to read two vampire novels: Dracula & Children of the Night.

I haven't read this series yet but I want to because of all the great things I've heard about it. I really like the House of Night series – I have the latest book that I am reading!

  • bonniem

Oh, I'd really love to win this! I don't have a favorite thing about the Sookie Stackhouse novels since I haven't had the pleasure of reading them yet. I've heard so many good things though and would love to read them. As for my favorite vampire series.. still the old standby Interview With A Vampire. The angst in it was so frustrating. I love it when novels have a strong effect like that.

I have never read any of this series-but have seen the first season of True Blood-and I love the actress who plays Sookie. Also dig the name.

  • Ed Nemmers

    Vampires are erotic!

  • darcyb

I love Trueblood–and I would love to read the books! I love the romance –I loved it when Bill Compton tried to walk through day light to try to save Sookie burning all the way.

  • sweetsue

I haven't read these, but I am dying to! I have never read a vampire series, but Stephen King's Salem's Lot is the best vampire book I have read.

  • theodoreesteghamat

I like the anne rice series. Definitely need to see the movie “interview with a vampire”.

I'm not mad crazy like the craze that is going on now. I would say I more appreciate I know I love books and reading so I guess that part is my favorite the enjoyment. Count me in please. Thanks.
    jessica(at)fan(dot)com

  • Cynthya

I like the originality of the series, the setting and how she mixes up vampires, werewolves and other paranormal creatures. I think giving Sookie the mind-reading ability was a stroke of genius, and also having her grow and develop the way she does during the series. (I've read the first four in the series but I gave them away and now I'm dying to re-read them.)

  • vellaide

My favorite thing about the Sookie Stackhouse novels, is that as the heroine, she isn't super smart, or wealthy, or even incredibly good looking. She's just a down-home girl, with normal problems–and she can read minds. >.> I think that Charlaine Harris puts a really interesting spin on Vampire lore, and I hope that she makes many many more of these books!

  • rw87

I love that Sookie is well mannered until you mess with the people she cares about most, then you better watch it! lol
