Time Flies on the Internet

Ghosts Through The Rush

So it’s January 2rd. Mom’s had the computer and the Internet for all of 2 1/2 days. They had their first catastrophe. Time flies on the Internet.

Our phone rang and it was mom. She’d had a problem with the computer already. Sharon, @nanna_j, asked what happened. It was a kitchen flood.

Um, what?

A kitchen flood happened thanks to their new computer and the Internet. It turns out the sink in the kitchen was allowed to overflow. Mom explained.

Lee, her husband, was going to do the dishes. He starts the water running in the sink while mom is off reading in the living room. Once the sink water  is started, Lee heads off to check on some thing on the computer.

It seems mom was alerted to a problem by noticing the suds on the kitchen floor. She ran in to discover Lee hadn’t been back to shut off the water. The sink was full and the suds had flooded over.  I’m picturing something from a Brady Bunch episode here.

Luckily mom was in good spirits when she’d called and was laughing. She wanted to share the goofiness that the computer already brought. Lee swore he sat down and didn’t realize so much time had passed.

Time flies on the Internet.

Do you have a similar story to share?

  • LOL - that is funny that something like that would be the first internet issue.

I can't tell you how many times I've burnt something for dinner or started a project and completely forgot about it once I just ran in to check something really quick on the computer - happens at least once a week, still!
  • Oh, I've done that many times as well.
  • Oh my! Sorry the floor got flooded, but that is a great story! Thanks for sharing!
