Disqus Comment System Beta 2.2

Disqus is currently installed here on The Broad Brush and other blogs I run. I settled on it a good while back and it’s generally been good to the blog and the commenters.

Their team has released a new version in beta. I’m a fool, so I’ve installed it in place of the current release. So far it appears it didn’t eat the old comments. Let’s let it rip.

What do I want from you? Even the smallest comment you feel up to leaving. It’s easy. There is no registration required or you can sign in with  your Twitter or Facebook or other IDs.

Say anything, leave a cryptic code, include a link or three. Try to break it if you’re up to it. Oh, and leave a video comment if you’re brave.

Cheers to Disqus.

Why does your WordPress blog look so spiffy, and my WordPress blog looks so lame?

#2 tojosan on 02.24.10 at 5:47 pm

This blog spiffy? It's got a clean look at least.
Thanks for dropping by. Leave another reply? Try a video comment?

Testing to see if the new Disqus is any better than the old piece of crap one.

#4 Ganesha on 02.24.10 at 6:02 pm

It's still retarded with insisting I should subscribe. Stupid Disqus.

#5 tojosan on 02.24.10 at 6:06 pm

I don't believe it forces you to register. I've set it to not require registration.

ohhh, I did wonder if I had indeed broken your comments. I registered via twitter and the comments disappeared. Had to refresh to make them reappear.

Here is an interesting link. See if you can see these impossible colors, bluish yellow and reddish green.

Don't see anything different about it from my disqus comments on my blog, also no video option either. unless you just drag a video in?

Your blog might be cluttered. Ha.
But that article was interesting. Glad I stopped by.
Thanks for crashing the comments here as well.
Cheers,
Todd

looks good to me my dear!

Looks like you might have it figured out by now. But I thought I would add another comment. I was thinking about looking for another comment program, but maybe I will upgrade first and try that. What would you recommend at this point?

Disqus works well & allows following comments well.
It's already cross-site enabled. This means if two blogs both use Disqus, then anyone registered in Disqus can follow comments and commenters across blogs. Viewers to my blog have come through Disqus as they were following out to a registered user's profile there and then back out to another blog.

Of course there is always leaving the comments on the blog and just using comment plug-ins such as CommentLuv. Sadly CommentLuv and Disqus don't play well together.

thanks for stopping by sir.
Didn't quite get the flood I was hoping for but the handful of comments so far has sussed out a thing or two.
I'll drop you a line.

Hey Todd – when I first opened the comments would not load. Refreshed and then all was right in the world of comments.

Thanks for the Disqus commenting system this will help my comments more interactive..

I integrated the Twitter Connect through Disqus pretty much right after as well. Now I'm all integrated out through by blogs.

Glad the article on Disqus and signing up helped.
I've enjoyed the cross-posting and follow through.

Missy5ft2, Thanks for comment feedback.

#23 tojosan on 03.09.10 at 1:52 am

Zoe, link worked, comments did misbehave.
Beta is a labor of love.

#24 paulswansen on 03.09.10 at 2:39 am

Ok, so I don't see an option for leaving a video comment.

#25 tojosan on 03.09.10 at 4:09 am

Don't see that option either. I reported it.
Thanks Paul.
