I integrated the Twitter Connect through Disqus pretty much right after as well. Now I'm all integrated out through by blogs.

Disqus works well & allows following comments well.
It's already cross-site enabled. This means if two blogs both use Disqus, then anyone registered in Disqus can follow comments and commenters across blogs. Viewers to my blog have come through Disqus as they were following out to a registered user's profile there and then back out to another blog.

Of course there is always leaving the comments on the blog and just using comment plug-ins such as CommentLuv. Sadly CommentLuv and Disqus don't play well together.
