Ruling Twitter on the iPad

What’s the king of iPad Twitter apps?

Experiencing Twitter on the iPad should be as good or better than on a PC.  Tweetdeck delivers on that.

Tweetdeck is well known for their column layout. Tweeting on the iPad starts off with columns, and just gets more fun from there.

  • Twitter user window
    • Avatar picture displayed as ‘instant photo’
    • User bio
    • Recent updates
    • Follow, DM, Reply and Block buttons
    • selection for Following and Followers display
  • Tweet display window
    • Beautiful display of a tweet
    • User avatar and basic information
    • User bio
    • Buttons to Retweet, Reply, DM, Favorite and Email (to email those great tweets)
  • Tweet pop up window
    • Scratchpad style text entry box
    • hashtag button
    • Tweet too button – brings up list of your contacts to insert into the tweet
    • Link button
    • Insert/upload picture button – configurable to twitpic, yfrog, tweetphoto
    • Locator icon – adds geo-location information to your tweet – requires configuring on Twitter.com

Overall I’d say this is a top notch replacement for the Tweetdeck Air app. Richer experience both in terms of looking good but for additional functionality.

Search columns are a button tap away and allow the use of OR & AND operators.

Adding accounts is just as easy. Tweetdeck on iPad doesn’t provide Facebook integration however.

Tweetdeck is currently free. If you have an old version I found it best to uninstall it from the iPad and reinstall.

What’s your iPad Twitter app of choice?
