Loving books isn’t a crime, but my wife is hinting that hoarding them is. Ha.
This one is Social Media 101: Tactics and Tips to Develop Your Business Online*. Chris Brogan’s latest book. Just arrived via Amazon of course.
Stacking this one up today with a dozen others I’m working my way through. Why so many?
It’s about movement.
Moving my mind is an ongoing effort. Fueling that are a few things, including in person conversations, long distance relationships, and finally media.
Movement isn’t just about going places with your body, though that doesn’t hurt. Getting out of your own headspace is huge. Having an open mind is useless if you aren’t filling it with great stuff.
Chris Brogan is someone I’ve grown to trust. He’s authentic. Marketing speak isn’t his style. Human interactions are.
Programming and problem solving for a living tends to make you unsympathetic for your fellow humans. Moving away from that and into an operating mode where the people matter has become my passion. Chris is a dependable source in that vein.
Seth Godin is another person I trust. He pretends to talk marketing when he’s really talking about humans and relationships.
Growing the list of people I trust means reaching out and being trustable as well. Making that happen involves making face time on and offline. Tweetups, meetups, Twitter, and blogging are just pieces of that. Postcards, letters, pictures and videos even help that effort.
Moving? Getting out of that mental cubicle you’ve stuck yourself in? Getting human in interactions? Trusting and building trust?
Is your brain moving?
