November 2008 is upon us and with it comes NaNoWriMo. NaNoWriMo is National Novel Writing Month.
From the website…
“National Novel Writing Month is a fun, seat-of-your-pants approach to novel writing. Participants begin writing November 1. The goal is to write a 175-page (50,000-word) novel by midnight, November 30.
Valuing enthusiasm and perseverance over painstaking craft, NaNoWriMo is a novel-writing program for everyone who has thought fleetingly about writing a novel but has been scared away by the time and effort involved.”
For me this is the 3rd time I’ve made an effort. This year I want it to happen. My NaNoWriMo profile.
My desire for you few reading this is to have you come along side me with ideas, support, and sodas. I need a cheering section even if I have to do all the writing myself.
To more interactively seek your assistance, I’ll be asking for specific things from my contacts. The first was an uplifting song. Tomorrows might be a favorite obscure author. Who knows!
As a bonus, you’ll get to see your feedback and suggestions affect the story. Heck, I’m even open to creative ways to kill off my characters.
Again, the goal is the 50,000 words. It’s not about plot, it’s about powering through.
If you are fresh out of ideas, and you have a few dollars to spare, how about donating to NaNoWriMo directly? They’ll appreciate it and so will those writing.
Finally, my NaNoWriMo story. That’s where you can see the most up to date public version. From time to time I’ll be posting excerpts on the blog. If you can spare the energy, jump in and comment.
