St. Louis Blogs Friday – Week 2

Pig as Pet - rotund chef statue holding pig statue on a leash

St. Louis is home to some interesting people, not the least of which also blog. Each week I’ll highlight a few of our metro area bloggers. You’ll find the serious, the fancy, and the fun, and hopefully you’ll find a connection with them.

Zoe Feast, @stlwebdesign, founded the company Indigo Image in 2000, to ‘provide “Grade A” design solutions at affordable prices complemented with excellent customer service.’ Their blog, Indigo Thoughts, shares how Indigo Image brings positive impact to their customers. A recent post, A ROI Website Success Story, talks about a before and after story of Ruth Hasser, a St Louis wedding Officiant. Great story that takes place in St. Louis by St. Louisans.

Melody Meiners, @CosmosGirl, not only blogs but heads up the team of writers for Girls Guide to the Galaxy™. The team of St. Louis ladies blogs on every topic from fashion to fun. A recent article, The Good Buy Girl’s Guide to Surviving A Sick Day, covers the agony and the essentials of taking a sick day.

Steve Patterson, @urbanreviewstl, blogs at Urban Review STL. The site takes a close look at the City of St. Louis and the entire St. Louis region. Recent weather sparked this informative recent article, Lingering snow creates accessibility issues. Steve and other contributors to Urban Review STL don’t shy away from the issues.

These blogs were all spotlighted by recommendation of their fellow St. Louisans. Here’s a round up of those links again:

Social Media – Battle St. Louis

Madness

It’s madness, sheer and utter madness. What’s that you say? Social networking and media are finally getting some action and I’m complaining? Yep! It’s overloading my personal bandwidth. How about the rest of you St. Louis?

My big goal in the social networking and social media arena, for 2009, is to get St. Louis on the map. It’s not about being the biggest city, the one with the most casinos, or where rib aficionados rave about coming. It’s about St. Louis losing the ’small town’ tag and being seen as real scene for blogging, video blogging, and other social networking and media goodness.

It isn’t happening over night, but this upcoming month might have you believing otherwise. Let’s look at just a handful of items from the upcoming weeks.

June 5th – Bring a Tweep to Lunch – 11:30 AM
June 11th – Feraro’s Pizza Tweetup – 6 PM
June 11th – Girls Guide to the Galaxy Relaunch Party 5:30 PM
June 13th – St. Louis Bloggers of BlogHer meetup – TBD

And wait, there’s at least one more scheduled…
June 18th – Social Media Club St. Louis evening event – TBD

The list above doesn’t even cover a couple of other impromptu events that will occur and others that are less well publicized. WOW.

Ground work is already being laid for an Interactive Festival, another large SMC STL event, and a regular series of Friday lunch tweetups.

If St. Louis is not on the map by December 31st, then some isn’t paying attention.

What’s your event for June? Don’t have one? Find out more about one of the events above them and RSVP today.

Girls Guide to the Galaxy Relaunch Party

IMG_4808

Galactic babes in leather outfits will be zapping us with … oh wait, this isn’t Leather Goddesses of Phobos is it?

Girls Guide to the Galaxy has relaunched and it’s taking off as the go to spot for advice, news, and more for the modern woman. Transitioned from a single author blog to a bevy of women, its got a new attitude. Girls Guide is spicier, funnier and more likely to raise your eyebrows than most blogs for or by women. Cheers ladies.

The team is having a relaunch and kick off party in June. They’ve chose the Royale, a well known pub in St. Louis. There’ll be a DJ, free stuff, and of course the staff from Girls Guide to the Galaxy. Don’t tell anyone but that includes a token guy.

RSVP today by visiting the relaunch party article and clicking the RSVP link.
Shortcut to the RSVP on Eventbrite.
